Bring the Flood
'I Still Stand' Lyrics
Written by Noella (Noel) Freeman on November, 2025.
I’m so disappointed.
It didn’t go the way I thought it should.
Doors just keep closing.
It just doesn’t feel like I thought it would.
I’ll loosen my grip,
Ill bring my wood
Lay it down at your alter,
Surrendering my thirst.
Bring the flood.
Drown out everything with your blood
Bring the flood, bring the flood.
Remind my soul that your enough.
Bring the flood, bring the flood.
Overwhelm me with your love
Bring the flood.
Keep my focus just on you.
Quench my soul and make me new.
Just when I wanna walk away,
Pull me back and make me stay.
I’ll loosen my grip,
Ill bring my wood
Lay it down at your alter,
Surrendering my thirst.
Bring the flood, bring the flood
Drown out everything with your blood
Bring the flood, bring the flood.
Remind my soul that your enough.
Bring the flood, bring the flood.
Overwhelm me with your love
Bring the flood.
Bring the flood.
Inside the Song
What Was I Doing?
I was sitting with some friends on a Google Meet and two of my friends said phrases throughout the call that truly sat with me - "quench my soul" , "flood me"and "I needed to bring it to His alter and let go of it". The Lord told me to pick up my pen and out the song 'Bring the Flood' came in the next few minutes from Him and onto the page.

The Why
This song came out of a season when I truly believed I was on the right path. I felt like I had heard from the Lord, stepped out in obedience, and done what He was asking me to do. The problem was, things weren’t unfolding the way I thought they would.

And I mean, I had it allllll planned out in my head—exactly how it was supposed to go.
But my plan wasn’t His plan.

When doors kept closing and things didn’t happen the way I expected, I found myself disappointed, discouraged and honestly feeling a little overlooked. I felt stuck, standing still and wondering, Okay, Lord… what am I supposed to do now?

What I eventually realized was that I was holding too tightly to the outcome I wanted. My flesh wanted the story to unfold a certain way, but God was asking me to trust Him with a story I couldn't yet see.
He was telling me to loosen my grip.

To stop trying to control the outcome.

To lay down my own desires, expectations and plans at His altar and surrender them completely to Him.
That is where “Bring the Flood” came from.

In Genesis 6:17, God says, “I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth…” The flood was overwhelming and consuming, washing away what had become corrupted by sin. While my circumstances obviously look nothing like the story of Noah, that imagery became deeply meaningful to me.

Sometimes I need God to flood the places in my heart that have become filled with my plans, my expectations, my timeline and my desires—and wash away anything that is keeping me from fully surrendering to Him.

I need Him to drown out the noise of my flesh so I can hear His voice again.
Because His purpose for my life is greater than anything I could carefully plan for myself. My job is not to know exactly how the story ends. My job is to stay close to Him, surrender what I’m holding onto and keep walking in step with where He leads.

So this song became my prayer:
God, I surrender my worldly thirst for things to happen the way I want them to. I lay my plans, expectations and desires at Your feet. Quench the parts of me searching for fulfillment anywhere outside of You.
“Remind my soul that You’re enough.”

Bring the flood.
